Dr. Salacka is a graduate of College Misericordia (BSN), the Medical College of Georgia (MSN), and the American School of Professional Psychology (Psy.D.) A skilled and compassionate therapist, she is a 20-year Army veteran with extensive experience in the clinical, consultative, and administrative aspects of mental health and substance abuse services; in organizational consultation; and in primary care mental health.
Dr. Salacka grew up in Northeastern Pennsylvania & New York. During her military career Carol served in Berlin, Germany; Oklahoma (deploying with the 47th Field Hospital to Guatemala); Georgia; Texas; San Francisco; and the Pentagon, VA, where (formerly Lt. Col. Flynn) she served as clinical policy advisor and consultant to the U.S. Army Surgeon General. Delighted to then be home with her teenage sons, she could not get the “be all you can be” out of her blood & went on to obtain her doctorate in clinical psychology. Over the last decade Dr. Salacka has become intimately familiar with the issues veterans face. In addition to her clinical work with vets of all generations, she has become a passionate advocate for them. She is herself a former VA employee, a VA beneficiary, a member of the American Legion and VFW, and has worked with the Blue Star Moms, Gold star families, and various veteran advocacy groups.
Dr. Salacka has served on the teaching faculties of family practice and psychiatric residency programs as well as a psychology internship program. She has been a speaker at many state and national conferences, has worked with leaders of small groups and large organizations and systems, and has volunteered her time with a range of professional and community organizations.
