The fee is $ 95 for each 45-50 minute session. The initial 90-minute session is $150. This is the case for individual, couples, or family therapy. If group therapy is offered fees are about $40 to $50 per session depending on group size, the length of the group, the topic, and the materials I provide. With larger groups, especially those with 6 to 10 sessions, fees may be negotiated. Fees are payable at the beginning of each session. I also do workshops for larger groups on a one time basis (see services.)

If you choose to use your insurance benefit: Except for TRICARE, I am an Out-of-Network (OON) provider. Most insurers have an IN NET (IN) and OUT OF NET (OON) benefit. Using your IN benefit often means you have a lower co-pay then with OON, but you are limited to a particular group of providers that the company has contracts with. I worked briefly for a major insurer and can tell you that the majority of your insurer’s provider panel is made up of master’s level therapists of various backgrounds and training. Some are very good, some are less skilled. No matter what type of therapist you select, you should get specific information about your therapist’s training, experience, and licensure; and ethical and competent therapists will be happy to provide this to you. Using your OON benefit you have access to any provider you choose, but you may pay a higher co-pay each session and may also have to meet a deductible if you have not done so already with other providers. In some cases, you can appeal these fees if there is no in-network provider available within a certain geographical distance, or none who have the particular skill or specialty you need.

Except for TRICARE, I now leave these issues between you and your insurer. While I can explain the workings and language of those approving benefits I collect the full fee at the start of each session and provide you with a bill with the data you need to file a claim. You may want to contact your insurance company ahead of time to check on your benefit limit and where you send claims to, or, I am happy to talk with them initially with you, but you are responsible for submitting claims for reimbursement from your insurer. I am happy to discuss this with you further when we meet.
