Dr Jennifer Vane Melrose

I have been trained in and have experience with a wide range of interventions based on psychodynamic, humanistic, interpersonal, and other theoretical approaches. I use an integrative approach that combines the most effective treatments to provide assistance in a time-sensitive manner. I have a particular expertise with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which has proven to be, when applied correctly, a remarkably effective treatment for anxiety, OCD, depression and a range of problems or conditions.

I have 30 years of experience with a wide range of issues that I cannot list here. However, I often focus on:

For Other Professionals: I enjoy working with other health care providers looking for support; psychotherapy; or consultation in a particular skill area such as CBT, weight management work with clients, or working with members of the primary and specialty health care teams

Care For the Caregiver: I have substantial experience working with physicians, nurses, and mental health or other professionals who desire assistance with stress and lifestyle management or who are concerned about the impact of various stressors on their relationships, health, work performance and the like. This area was the focus of my doctoral dissertation.

For groups and organizations: I thrive in roles that allow me to utilize my clinical, consultative and organizational skills to assist individuals in achieving optimum emotional and physical health and to help organizations provide the highest quality clinical and preventative services in a cost-effective manner with high staff morale and consumer satisfaction. I have a particular talent for program and policy development and in helping systems put scientific knowledge into practice for a healthier individual, organization, and community.

I enjoy doing educational and/or support groups and seminars on a variety of mental and physical health topics and am happy to discuss this with you.

I am also available to help your health care organization implement a primary care mental health model, where one places mental health providers in close proximity to PCPs and utilizes them in a consultative and collaborative manner to benefit patient, family, provider and system.
